"Now there doing some co structuring, it’s been over a week and most of the beds are not working after they have been moved to different rooms. Seriously? Poor ownership! We like the place and just if the employees, but it’s ridiculous what is going on between this and employees stealing and doing illegal things, getting fired then being hired back. If there were more places to tan, I would have left years ago. It’s sad! I’ve been a customer since 2004, then tried another tan company for a year or so then ended up returning to Tropical Tan and have been a customer since 2011. I have been satisfied with the service and several employees and the beds are clean and usually in good working condition. The last year, I’ve had some problems. After many years, our rates went up 2 years in a row, which happened a lot after Covid, then the owner removed the ability to pay cash because I was told some of the staff was stealing, then the second year that our rates went up again, at least this time with notice, they required a new “Annual Maintenance Fee” of $15, on top of the 20% taxes we pay on our fees. It’s understandable, however there have been issues with some of the beds for many months without them being fixed, such as facial fans not working, timers in the bed not working, bulbs being out for too long, broken facial fans, and I have told employees in person and I have informed Client Services, via emails, so shouldn’t the Maintenance fees be going to maintaining the beds? Now, two days before our bill goes through, I received an email stating that all members will be charged a Processing fee starting in April, to help absorb some of the costs from credit card fees. That is a business expense period and shouldn’t be passed on to the customer, however charging customers directly for using credit cards is legal and understandable, AND what about those of us who don’t pay with credit cards? We have to have a card on file for monthly auto pay, so we use a debit card, we shouldn’t have to pay a processing fee for credit card fees the business has to pay, that’s not reasonable. Also, they took away the ability to pay in cash, which I often did prior to when our fees were due, it was easier and more convenient for me. There should be payment options for customers, like paying in cash. I’m sure I’m not the only one that will be unhappy about another new charge, especially this one. I’m close to canceling and leaving. Oh and I recently bought a Hempz lotion and in the window it says “Buy One Get One Free on All Hempz”, not so much because there’s no Hempz products in the store and I had to order one, plus I’ve asked about the sale several times with no answer, so maybe it’s not Buy One Get One Free?! It’s just too many frustrating things to continue to spend my money at a company that leaves me feeling like they are charging for every little thing and they don’t seem to appreciate or care for long time customers, like us. I tip the employee every time I go in and that’s weekly, so I do appreciate most of the staff, but maybe the Owners (Dan & Sons) need to think about these decisions and make it a bit more reasonable."

"In the past I have really enjoyed coming to this location for my summer glow but when I walked in a couple months ago, I was shocked at the condition of the salon. The front door needs some major fixing so it doesn’t hit you in the butt as you walk through. The tiles on the ceiling are stained with water marks & look absolutely horrible. The shelves are bare, just a handful of tanning products. Kudos to the staff you keep, they are all amazing & knowledgeable. When was the last time you replaced ALL the bulbs in the beds? I’ve been tanning for 2 month now, 3-4 times a week & I’m not noticing much of a difference as in prior years. Your customers deserve better. We choose to come here for 1 reason or another & we pay good money to do so. Take some pride in your business or your customers will be looking for another place to give their money too."

"I love tanning, I have experienced and learned a lot in the many years I have indulged! This salon is very clean- they do have a great selection of UV tanning beds, a great stand-up red light bed, and the wonderful Versa for sprays. The staff that I have interacted with have been great as well! Very nice & professional. They have a number of different lotions and products, as well as different discounts throughout the week. The downside, is the price point & everyone's ability to understand how it works, the staff included. When you sign up, in addition to the monthly package price, you must pay a $20 startup fee, plus sales tax - so your total is going to be about $50 more than the prices shown on their menu, & what you are agreeing to pay. With that $20, they do allow you to choose under $20 worth of any product, which is nice! I have not been to a salon that does that, so that is a plus, I suppose. The packages are very confusing, and priced higher than the average salons everywhere else- what you see & what is advertised, is not what you get, unfortunately.. The employees seem to have a hard time getting sales & commission, due to the pricing, & confusion of the packages themselves! They also don't really understand the package pricing, either, which is not their fault, or within their control. If they are unable to understand, & explain, it puts pressure & stress on them that is not their fault- it's on the owner. The employees take the blowback from customers because of this, and it happens often. I think if management were to spend a day being a regular employee, they would quickly change the way things are set up there. What may make sense logistically, does not actually make sense in real, everyday life! It does feel a bit deceptive - if everyone is confused & frustrated, they will just pay to be done with the interaction- even though they are paying more than what is advertised. This is one of only two chains of tanning salons for Washington - so unfortunately, it is pay the higher prices, or don't tan, which sucks. The most I have seen any salon charge is $89.99 + the tax, MAX, and that price includes all of the services at the salon - unlimited bed tanning, spray tanning, red light, the cocoon, etc. Here, you pay $100 + for the package itself, not including the taxes & additional fees. If you want any additional services, it is not included- you pay extra, which is tied into the various discounts they have each day of the week. Kirkland is one of the wealthiest cities in the entire country, however, wealthy housewives & wealthy people, are not the only people in the market for the services offered.There are single mothers on a budget, like myself- there are also people who use these services for medical, as well as psychological purposes. For some, it is not just a leisure activity. If you are going to price the packages high, the lotions & other skin products should be lower- & vice versa. Most do not purchase, & go without lotion, because the extra $50 they budgeted for it is taken in the hidden pricing. I think that this establishment has the potential to generate a lot more money, & pull in a lot more business, if they were not bleeding people dry - make it a bit more reasonable, & don't hide that you charge more than you advertise. Additionally, not accepting cash, & requiring card only, robs you of an entire customer base, & makes it impossible for those who would like to utilize the services, but do not use cards. Give your girls a break, they do the best with what they are given to work with, and they do phenomenally, considering! Other than that, it is a great salon- a HUGE salon, with great UV beds & awesome staff."

She was very thorough with all the info and even wrote down their hours of operation for me on my copy of the release form. The place is nice and clean and well kept. It looks brand new but I’m guessing it’s been open for a while now. The bed was nice and clean with a bottle of sanitizer on it to indicate it’s been cleaned. The nice young lady showed me how it all worked and then I was set to go. I opted for 7 mins my first time as I didn’t want to burn, which would defeat the whole purpose of getting a tan before my tropical trip. Since I haven’t been tanning in a long time, I don’t have anywhere else to compare this place to, but I would recommend Tropical Tan, I had a great first experience and subsequent tanning."

After many years, our rates went up 2 years in a row, which happened a lot after Covid, then the owner removed the ability to pay cash because I was told some of the staff was stealing, then the second year that our rates went up again, at least this time with notice, they required a new “Annual Maintenance Fee” of $15, on top of the 20% taxes we pay on our fees. It’s understandable, however there have been issues with some of the beds for many months without them being fixed, such as facial fans not working, timers in the bed not working, bulbs being out for too long, broken facial fans, and I have told employees in person and I have informed Client Services, via emails, so shouldn’t the Maintenance fees be going to maintaining the beds? Now, two days before our bill goes through, I received an email stating that all members will be charged a Processing fee starting in April, to help absorb some of the costs from credit card fees. That is a business expense period and shouldn’t be passed on to the customer, however charging customers directly for using credit cards is legal and understandable, AND what about those of us who don’t pay with credit cards? We have to have a card on file for monthly auto pay, so we use a debit card, we shouldn’t have to pay a processing fee for credit card fees the business has to pay, that’s not reasonable. Also, they took away the ability to pay in cash, which I often did prior to when our fees were due, it was easier and more convenient for me. There should be payment options for customers, like paying in cash. I’m sure I’m not the only one that will be unhappy about another new charge, especially this one. I’m close to canceling and leaving. Oh and I recently bought a Hempz lotion and in the window it says “Buy One Get One Free on All Hempz”, not so much because there’s no Hempz products in the store and I had to order one, plus I’ve asked about the sale several times with no answer, so maybe it’s not Buy One Get One Free?! It’s just too many frustrating things to continue to spend my money at a company that leaves me feeling like they are charging for every little thing and they don’t seem to appreciate or care for long time customers, like us. I tip the employee every time I go in and that’s weekly, so I do appreciate most of the staff, but maybe the Owners (Dan & Sons) need to think about these decisions and make it a bit more reasonable."

"In the past I have really enjoyed coming to this location for my summer glow but when I walked in a couple months ago, I was shocked at the condition of the salon. The front door needs some major fixing so it doesn’t hit you in the butt as you walk through. The tiles on the ceiling are stained with water marks & look absolutely horrible. The shelves are bare, just a handful of tanning products. Kudos to the staff you keep, they are all amazing & knowledgeable. When was the last time you replaced ALL the bulbs in the beds? I’ve been tanning for 2 month now, 3-4 times a week & I’m not noticing much of a difference as in prior years. Your customers deserve better. We choose to come here for 1 reason or another & we pay good money to do so. Take some pride in your business or your customers will be looking for another place to give their money too."

"I love tanning, I have experienced and learned a lot in the many years I have indulged! This salon is very clean- they do have a great selection of UV tanning beds, a great stand-up red light bed, and the wonderful Versa for sprays. The staff that I have interacted with have been great as well! Very nice & professional. They have a number of different lotions and products, as well as different discounts throughout the week. The downside, is the price point & everyone's ability to understand how it works, the staff included. When you sign up, in addition to the monthly package price, you must pay a $20 startup fee, plus sales tax - so your total is going to be about $50 more than the prices shown on their menu, & what you are agreeing to pay. With that $20, they do allow you to choose under $20 worth of any product, which is nice! I have not been to a salon that does that, so that is a plus, I suppose. The packages are very confusing, and priced higher than the average salons everywhere else- what you see & what is advertised, is not what you get, unfortunately.. The employees seem to have a hard time getting sales & commission, due to the pricing, & confusion of the packages themselves! They also don't really understand the package pricing, either, which is not their fault, or within their control. If they are unable to understand, & explain, it puts pressure & stress on them that is not their fault- it's on the owner. The employees take the blowback from customers because of this, and it happens often. I think if management were to spend a day being a regular employee, they would quickly change the way things are set up there. What may make sense logistically, does not actually make sense in real, everyday life! It does feel a bit deceptive - if everyone is confused & frustrated, they will just pay to be done with the interaction- even though they are paying more than what is advertised. This is one of only two chains of tanning salons for Washington - so unfortunately, it is pay the higher prices, or don't tan, which sucks. The most I have seen any salon charge is $89.99 + the tax, MAX, and that price includes all of the services at the salon - unlimited bed tanning, spray tanning, red light, the cocoon, etc. Here, you pay $100 + for the package itself, not including the taxes & additional fees. If you want any additional services, it is not included- you pay extra, which is tied into the various discounts they have each day of the week. Kirkland is one of the wealthiest cities in the entire country, however, wealthy housewives & wealthy people, are not the only people in the market for the services offered.There are single mothers on a budget, like myself- there are also people who use these services for medical, as well as psychological purposes. For some, it is not just a leisure activity. If you are going to price the packages high, the lotions & other skin products should be lower- & vice versa. Most do not purchase, & go without lotion, because the extra $50 they budgeted for it is taken in the hidden pricing. I think that this establishment has the potential to generate a lot more money, & pull in a lot more business, if they were not bleeding people dry - make it a bit more reasonable, & don't hide that you charge more than you advertise. Additionally, not accepting cash, & requiring card only, robs you of an entire customer base, & makes it impossible for those who would like to utilize the services, but do not use cards. Give your girls a break, they do the best with what they are given to work with, and they do phenomenally, considering! Other than that, it is a great salon- a HUGE salon, with great UV beds & awesome staff."

The nice young lady showed me how it all worked and then I was set to go. I opted for 7 mins my first time as I didn’t want to burn, which would defeat the whole purpose of getting a tan before my tropical trip. Since I haven’t been tanning in a long time, I don’t have anywhere else to compare this place to, but I would recommend Tropical Tan, I had a great first experience and subsequent tanning."
